The European Researchers’ Night 2025 offered a unique opportunity to bring HyLICAL’s science closer to the public. Researchers from the University of Sevilla, a HyLICAL consortium partner, represented the project with interactive demonstrations and engaging discussions about the role of magnetism in clean energy innovation.
Visitors of all ages explored hands-on experiments on magnetism and witnessed the magnetocaloric effect in action through custom-built setups designed by the University of Sevilla team. These experiments illustrated how magnetic materials can be used for energy-efficient cooling, a principle at the core of HyLICAL’s approach to hydrogen liquefaction.
The event provided a rewarding challenge for the researchers — communicating complex scientific concepts in an accessible way and showing how fundamental research in magnetism connects to real-world applications in sustainable hydrogen technologies.
HyLICAL was proudly represented by Victorino Franco, Jia Yan Law, and the University of Sevilla team, who made advanced energy research engaging, accessible, and inspiring through hands-on demonstrations.
